Albertonians invited to brighten children’s Christmas
This festive season, Alberton residents are being called upon to make a difference in the lives of local children in need by preparing a small, love-filled gift box.
As the festive season approaches, Life On The Streets (LOTS) Hope Centre in Alberton is extending a heartfelt invitation to residents to share the joy of Christmas with less fortunate children in the community.
Under the initiative titled, An Opportunity to Give This Christmas, locals can create a thoughtful gift box valued at no more than R350.
Each box will go to a child in need within Alberton and should include:
• A toy (fun and age-appropriate).
• Stationery (colouring pencils, crayons, or school supplies).
• Clothing items such as a T-shirt and pants or a dress.
• Toiletries like toothpaste, soap, and a facecloth.
• Soft sweets (no peanuts or hard/perishable items).
• Participants are also encouraged to include a personal Christmas message of love and hope.
To participate, residents may contact Laetitia at the LOTS Hope Centre on 082 046 9752 or via [email protected] to offer their assistance. Once registered, donors will receive the name, age, and gender of a child for whom they will prepare a gift.
Completed gift boxes should be clearly labelled and handed in by December 1 at the LOTS Hope Centre, located at the Trust Bank Building, Voortrekker Road and 1 Penzance Street, New Redruth, near Alberton Home Affairs.
A special Christmas party for the identified children will take place on December 13, when they will receive the lovingly prepared gifts.
Cash donations are also welcome.
“All children deserve love, attention, and to know that they matter,” said organisers from LOTS.
