Ekurhuleni mayor unveils EMPD Festive Season Safety Drive and new fleet

The City of Ekurhuleni has kicked off its Festive Season Campaign with a renewed focus on safety, visibility, and swift law enforcement action.

The Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Ald Nkosindiphile Xhakaza, launched the EMPD Festive Season Campaign.

The event also saw the unveiling of the department’s newly acquired fleet of vehicles, signalling a strengthened commitment to public safety.

The campaign aims to enhance community safety with increased law enforcement visibility, targeted crime prevention initiatives, and intensified road safety operations across the city.

Xhakaza said the initiative forms part of the city’s broader strategy to ensure that residents and visitors enjoy a safe and peaceful holiday season.

“The EMPD’s expanded fleet will significantly improve our rapid response capacity, ensuring that officers are better equipped to serve and protect our communities, particularly during the busy festive period,” he said.

The campaign launch reaffirms the city’s dedication to creating a secure environment for all citizens throughout the holidays.
