Stepping Stone Hospice recognised for visionary support

The Cornea Foundation recognises Stepping Stone Hospice for helping restore vision to over 200 people through their life-changing corneal transplant programme.

Stepping Stone Hospice has been honoured with a certificate of appreciation by the Cornea Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to eliminating corneal blindness across South Africa.

The Cornea Foundation visited Stepping Stone Hospice to express heartfelt gratitude for the hospice’s role in raising awareness and connecting patients with the Foundation’s life-changing corneal transplant programme.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Stepping Stone Hospice and its palliative care partners, the Cornea Foundation has successfully carried out over 200 corneal transplants, restoring sight to more than 200 individuals who were previously blind.

In recognition of this remarkable contribution, the foundation presented the Hospice team with a certificate of appreciation and a celebratory cake.

Marlize de Jager of the Cornea Foundation was singled out for her dedication and for personally acknowledging the Hospice’s commitment to this vital cause.

“Being part of a programme that changes lives so profoundly is an honour. We are proud to support the Cornea Foundation in their mission to give the gift of sight to those in need,” said Tersia Burger, the CEO and founder of the Hospice.
