Fundraising concert at Barnyard Theatre to support SA karate athletes heading to Mauritius

Supporters are invited to enjoy a 80s-themed live show at the Barnyard Theatre at Emperors Palace while helping raise funds for local karate students representing South African JKA at the JKA Indo Pacific Cup in Mauritius

Local karate students who have been selected to represent South African JKA at the upcoming JKA Indo Pacific Cup in Mauritius will benefit from a fundraising event planned for May.

Karate Syndicate will host an evening of live entertainment at the Barnyard Theatre at Emperors Palace on May 30 to help raise funds for the international competition.

The show, titled Absolute 80’s, will feature popular hits from artists such as Dire Straits, Journey, A-ha, Prince and Cyndi Lauper.

The performance will also include well-known movie soundtrack songs from films like Top Gun, Dirty Dancing and Ghostbusters.

Doors will open at 17:30, with the show starting at 19:00.

Tickets cost R285 per person, while tables of eight are available for R2 280 and tables of 10 for R2 850.

Supporters are encouraged to pre-order food through the organisers, as a portion of the proceeds will go towards the team’s fundraising efforts.

The venue is cashless and outside drinks will not be permitted.

Tickets and food orders can be placed online via the Karate Syndicate website.

Organisers said tables and tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The evening aims to give the community an opportunity to enjoy a night of music while supporting young athletes preparing to compete internationally.
