He was also hailed for giving great advise, professional or personal. His decades-long service started in 1987 until his retirement in March this year.
Alberton SAPS station commander, Colonel Olivein Letloenyane, praised Mngomezulu for his dedication to the safety and security of residents of Alberton.

“Mngomezulu is one of the members who are highly decorated. In 1997, he was awarded a medal of faithful service for 10 years of service. The second most important medal in the SAPS is the 20-year medal of loyal service, which was also awarded to Mngomezulu. It is only through the mercy of God, good behaviour, and conduct that one leaves SAPS with such accolades,” said Letloenyane.
Others who spoke at Mngomezulu’s farewell function were Alberton’s various CPF representatives and other safety and security organisations, as well as senior police officer from other policing districts in Gauteng province.
Mngomezulu leaves the service after decades of work as a police officer, a mentor to many officers who joined the service many years after he did, and a figure of safety to many in this community.
