Have your say: IDP meetings come to Alberton this April

The City of Ekurhuleni’s IDP roadshow is under way with Alberton residents set to engage directly with officials on April 13.

Residents of Alberton are encouraged to make their voices heard as the City of Ekurhuleni rolls out its Integrated Development Plan (IDP) consultative meetings across the metro this April.

The public participation process, which started recently, will run until April 16 and gives communities an opportunity to influence how service delivery, infrastructure and development priorities are shaped in their areas.

For Alberton residents, the key date to diarise is Monday, April 13 at 18:00, when the meeting will take place at Alberton Civic Hall.

The session will cater to wards 37, 38, 94 and 106, but all interested residents are encouraged to attend and participate. This forms part of a broader schedule of meetings taking place across Ekurhuleni, including nearby areas such as Kempton Park and Springs on the same evening.

The IDP is the City’s key strategic document, outlining planned projects, service delivery priorities and budget allocations. Community input plays a critical role in ensuring that local needs, from road maintenance and electricity to housing and public safety, are properly reflected.

Residents are urged to:

• Check the official schedule and identify their ward

• Attend the meeting relevant to their area

• Share concerns, suggestions and priorities with City officials

Those unable to attend in person can still participate by submitting comments or pre-registering online via the City’s IDP portal.

Ward numbers are essential for participation, as discussions are structured to address specific community needs within each ward.

Community members are also encouraged to share the meeting details with neighbours, street groups and local organisations to ensure strong representation from Alberton.
