Eden Park Secondary learner re-elected as district leader after democratic student vote

Eden Park Secondary School’s Prince Morapedi has been re-elected as school president for a third term and will continue serving as district secretary following a democratic election process in the Ekurhuleni South District.

A learner from Eden Park Secondary School is celebrating a major leadership milestone after being re-elected to key student leadership positions.

Prince Morapedi has been re-elected as School President for a third consecutive year and will also continue serving as District Secretary for a second term within the Ekurhuleni South District.

The elections brought together learner leaders from schools across the district.

All schools under the district were represented, along with their Teacher Liaison Officers (TLOs).

District leadership in attendance included Circuit Director Dr Z Tlhakanelo, District TLO Thabang Mokgethi, and District Director EM Tau.

The process followed a democratic format where nominated candidates delivered speeches before school presidents cast their votes to elect the district executive.

As he enters his final year of high school, Morapedi said he is determined to build on his leadership experience and continue making a difference.

“I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been re-elected as School President for the third consecutive year. I’m also excited to continue serving as District Secretary for a second year,” he said.

Morapedi added that his experience as a learner representative has helped him develop valuable leadership skills, which he hopes to carry into higher education.

“My goal is to continue advocating for students and enhancing learning experiences in tertiary education. I’m looking forward to taking my leadership journey to the next level by serving in a Student Representative Council at the university,” he said.

His continued role at both the school and district levels positions him as a key youth leader within the district, with ambitions that extend beyond secondary school to shaping student life at the tertiary level.
