“I feel great, I’ve won. It looked easy, but it wasn’t easy,” said Mxolisi Faleni, one of the voucher winners.

Families were also well catered for, with children enjoying face painting while their parents browsed the aisles.

The store created a welcoming environment that allowed visitors to shop comfortably while their children were entertained.

Many shoppers explored the store for the first time, discovering a wide range of home improvement, DIY, and décor products.

Friendly staff were on hand to assist, helping customers find what they needed and offering advice.

For those looking to take a break, the in-store Mugg & Bean offered a convenient spot for coffee lovers to relax and enjoy refreshments.

Guests also had the opportunity to meet Leroy Merlin’s leadership team and learn more about the company’s investment in Alberton and across South Africa. A community outreach initiative was introduced, inviting residents to nominate local organisations for upgrades and renovations.

This opening is especially meaningful as it marks Leroy Merlin’s sixth store in the country since launching locally in 2016.

It reflects the company’s strong commitment to growth and to supporting the communities it serves. The store, located at the corner of Heidelberg and Ascot Road in Newmarket, Alberton, is now open to the public.
