Netcare Alberton receives more than 500 teddy bears from President Steyn
Learners from Laerskool President Steyn collected more than 500 teddy bears in a heartfelt fundraiser for children at Netcare Alberton Hospital, supporting the compassionate work of paediatric oncologist Dr Tanya Krakowitzer.
Laerskool President Steyn recently showed community spirit through a teddy bear drive in support of young cancer patients treated at Netcare Alberton Hospital, where paediatric oncologist Dr Tanya Krakowitzer provides comfort to children through small but meaningful gestures.
The school collected more than 500 teddy bears, which were donated to the hospital on April 9.
The initiative aimed to bring comfort and encouragement to children undergoing treatment, with the soft toys symbolising care and emotional support during difficult medical journeys.
According to the school, Dr Krakowitzer is known for giving each child a teddy bear as part of her compassionate approach to care, helping to ease anxiety and create a sense of comfort in hospital settings.
“It was a great honour for the school to take part in the teddy bear fundraiser. Strength to every child; we’re thinking of you,” the school shared.
The initiative was organised by Mrs Ferreira, who was thanked by the school for coordinating the drive and encouraging participation across the school community.
