Vlytige Vingers donate handmade blankets and jerseys to Stepping Stone Hospice
A group of dedicated women from NG Kerk Alberton-Oos has warmed hearts and lives through a generous donation of hand-knitted blankets, jerseys and beanies to patients at Stepping Stone Hospice
The team at Stepping Stone Hospice has expressed gratitude to the ladies of Vlytige Vingers from NG Kerk Alberton-Oos for their remarkable donation of handmade items to patients receiving care at the New Market In-Patient Unit (IPU).
The generous contribution came after Marié Breedt and Sonja Coetzer visited the facility and shared the needs of Hospice patients with the knitting group.
Inspired by what they saw and heard, the women responded with an extraordinary act of kindness.
Using their knitting skills and giving generously of their time, the group created and donated 19 sets of jerseys and beanies, along with 20 colourful hand-knitted blankets.
These handmade gifts provide much-needed warmth and comfort to patients, while also serving as a reminder that they are cared for and supported by their community.
Stepping Stone Hospice said the donation touched both patients and staff deeply, describing the blankets and clothing as more than practical items; they are symbols of compassion, dignity and hope.
“Your time, your skill and your compassion are a true gift. These beautiful creations wrap our patients in comfort and remind them that they are seen, valued and loved,” said Tersia Burger, CEO of Stepping Stone Hospice.
