De Little Stars and Aftercare celebrates Father’s Day and Career Day
De Little Stars Preschool and Aftercare combined Father's Day and Career Day, giving fathers and their children the opportunity to bond through fun activities while inspiring learners to explore different careers in an engaging and memorable way.
De Little Stars Preschool and Aftercare celebrated Father’s Day and Career Day on June 19, bringing fathers, father figures and learners together for a fun-filled morning of games, bonding activities and career inspiration.
The combined event encouraged dads to spend quality time with their children, share their professions, and inspire learners to dream about their future careers.

The morning began with a fun-filled icebreaker that encouraged fathers to get to know one another. Each dad had a piece of sellotape placed on his forehead before blowing up a balloon.

They then introduced themselves to another father while trying to stick their balloon onto the other dad’s forehead, creating plenty of laughter among parents and learners.
Teacher Beatrice Badenhorst said the activities were designed to encourage interaction and create lasting memories.

“We had the fathers come together for an icebreaker where they had sellotape on their foreheads. They blew up balloons and had to introduce themselves to another daddy while trying to get their balloon to stick to the other father’s forehead. It was a wonderful way for everyone to relax, laugh and get to know each other. There were actually three daddies who guessed each other’s careers correctly. I still don’t know how they managed it, but they knew exactly what each other did. We were supposed to have Career Day last Friday, but we decided to move it to this week and combine it with Father’s Day because hardly any of the children had participated. This gave fathers the opportunity to share their professions with the learners while celebrating Father’s Day at the same time,” she said.

The fun continued with a career-themed guessing game. Fathers wrote their names on pieces of paper, folded them and placed them into a hat.

Each father then drew a name and had to guess the profession of the dad whose name they had picked. If they guessed incorrectly, the other father could guess the career of the person who had drawn his name.

After the games, fathers spent quality time with their children by painting their faces before enjoying tea, coffee and light refreshments together ahead of returning to work.
