Alberton Methodist Church join forces with NPOs to create safe space for vulnerable children
Amcare and Alberton Child Welfare seek donations and volunteer house parents.
Three Alberton organisations have teamed up to create a safe haven for vulnerable children and urgently need community support to get the project off the ground.
Healing 2 Others (H2O) has taken the first steps toward establishing a safe place for vulnerable children in need.
The initiative is being run in conjunction with Amcare, Alberton Child Welfare and Alberton Methodist Church.
The partners say “it takes a village to raise a child” and are now calling on residents, businesses and volunteers to help fulfil the calling.
The organisations have listed several items needed urgently to make the safe space functional:
Bunk beds, bedding (blankets, sheets, pillows), bedside tables, toys, food donations, and financial contributions will be gratefully accepted.
“Help us fulfil this calling by stepping out and assisting in this small project,” said Reverend Jeffery van der Spuy.
“We know times are tough right now, but together we can make that difference; stand with us.”
Companies are urged to contribute services or donations to help furnish and run the facility.
The organisations also need individuals willing to volunteer as house parents.
All prospective house parents will go through a thorough background check to ensure the safety and well-being of the children.
Anyone able to assist can contact 073 302 5583.
