Stepping Stone Hospice receives boost for charity shop

Preloved clothing, linens and household items were donated to Stepping Stone Hospice, helping to support its charity shop and the vital palliative care services it provides to patients with life-limiting illnesses.

The Absa Legal Recoveries team recently extended a helping hand to Stepping Stone Hospice by donating preloved clothing, linens and kitchenware in support of the Hospice’s ongoing work in the community.

The initiative, which forms part of the team’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) efforts, was led by Sandra McCallum and Hilgard van Huyssteen, who were joined by members of their department.

Sandra said Absa’s CSI programme is about stepping out into communities and finding ways to make a positive impact. Hilgard added that his team is passionate about giving back, which inspired the donation drive.

The donated items will be sold through Stepping Stone Hospice’s charity shop, with all proceeds going towards funding the organisation’s essential palliative care services for patients living with life-limiting illnesses.

During their visit, the Absa team was taken on a guided tour of the Hospice, where they gained first hand insight into the compassionate care provided by the COHSASA-accredited, five-star facility.

The experience gave them a deeper appreciation of the emotional support and dignity the hospice offers to patients and their families.

Stepping Stone founder and CEO, Tersia Burger, thanked the team for their generosity and commitment to the hospice’s mission.

“Every donation, no matter its size, helps us continue providing compassionate care to those who need it most. Support from corporate partners such as Absa reminds us that our community stands alongside us in caring for some of our most vulnerable patients,” she said.
