Alberton Child Welfare builds Naledi House for vulnerable children
Community urged to help turn Naledi House into a complete home.
Alberton Child Welfare is building a new place of safety, Naledi House, to provide temporary care for vulnerable children while they wait to be placed in permanent, safe homes.
The organisation says Naledi House will provide children who have been removed from unsafe environments with a stable and caring space during a difficult transition period.

Now, they are appealing to the community and local businesses to help make it a complete home.
For many children, the time between removal and placement can be weeks or months. Alberton Child Welfare says Naledi House was created to ensure that during that time, children have warmth, routine, and dignity.
To get Naledi House ready, Alberton Child Welfare is requesting donations of household items and assistance with upgrades and maintenance.
Companies with skills, time, or products to donate are also welcome to get involved.
The organisation is appealing for essential items to help the children settle in with comfort and dignity.

These include a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster for the kitchen, as well as pots, pans, cutlery, dinner plates and cups.
Bedding such as single duvets, sheets, blankets and pillows. They are also looking for bathroom mats, door mats, brooms, mops and buckets to keep the home clean, as well as cleaning products and garden tools to maintain the outdoor space.
Alberton Child Welfare says every donation, big or small, will help create a nurturing environment for children in temporary safe care.

Members of the public can donate goods directly, while companies are encouraged to donate products, services, or volunteer time to assist with upgrades and ongoing maintenance of the home, especially with Mandela Day around the corner.
