Community Support Programme training empowers Alberton residents to strengthen local service delivery

The City of Ekurhuleni's (CoE) Community Support Programme training is under way at Alberton Civic Hall, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge to better serve their communities.

Residents gathered at the Alberton Civic Centre as the City of Ekurhuleni’s (CoE) HIV and AIDS Unit continued its Community Support Programme (CSP) Training.

The aim of the programme is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to make a difference in their communities.

Described as a programme focused on ‘empowering communities through knowledge’, the training covers a range of topics designed to prepare community representatives for their roles.

Participants received training in basic health information, understanding clinic operations and management, identifying key community stakeholders, the roles of ward councillors and ward committees, and preparing to respond effectively to challenges within their communities.

According to the City, the programme is intended to ensure participants are better equipped to support residents and strengthen service delivery at community level.

Upon successfully completing the programme, trainees will receive official City of Ekurhuleni identification cards confirming their role as Community Support Programme representatives dedicated to serving their communities.

The City said the initiative is part of its commitment to building informed, empowered communities and strengthening service delivery where it matters most.
