Epic Foundation launches online information hub to support GBV survivors

A new online platform aims to make it easier for survivors of gender-based violence and those supporting them to access trusted information, guidance and support services.

The Epic Foundation launches The Lighthouse, an online information hub for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), their families, friends and support networks, on August 1.

Available through the Epic Foundation’s website, the platform is designed to serve as a central source of information and guidance for people affected by abuse, violence, assault and other traumatic experiences.

According to the foundation, many survivors face uncertainty about where to turn or what steps to take after experiencing abuse.

The Lighthouse aims to address this by bringing together practical information, support options and contact details in one accessible online space.

The platform will include information on emergency help and support services, what to do immediately after abuse or assault, safety planning, recognising the signs of abuse, understanding gender-based and sexual violence, sexual harassment, medical care after assault, legal rights, healing and recovery, supporting someone experiencing abuse, a men’s support section and a community education centre.

The Epic Foundation said the resource is intended not only for survivors but also for family members, friends, colleagues, employers, educators and community members who may need to support someone experiencing abuse.

The organisation believes that improving access to reliable information can help reduce confusion, encourage informed decision-making and connect people with the support they need.

The Lighthouse will be available from August 1 on the Epic Foundation website.
