BMW Kathorus Club marks 100th Charity Run with Girls with Hope

The BMW Kathorus Club marked a major milestone on September 12 by hosting its 100th Charity Run at the Eden Park Opelweg Primary School sports ground.

Established in 2017, the non-profit organisation has spent the past nine years supporting vulnerable community members through long-term relationships with its beneficiaries.

According to Mpho Melufi of the BMW Kathorus Club, the club currently supports 42 beneficiaries, including children’s homes, homes for people with disabilities, nursing homes, orphanages, gender-based violence support centres and drug support centres.

Through these initiatives, it reaches more than 3 500 children, including 250 living with disabilities.

Girls with Hope honoured

The 100th Charity Run honoured one of the club’s long-standing beneficiaries, Girls with Hope.
The club invited all its beneficiaries to attend the milestone celebration.

Ward 57 councillor Dino Peterson attended the event, shared words of encouragement with the community, and congratulated both Girls with Hope and the BMW Kathorus Club for their work.

Beatrice Dortley, founder of Girls with Hope, an organisation established in 2019, also welcomed attendees and thanked them for their support.

The event included an awards ceremony recognising Girls with Hope for its dedication to its work as an NPO.

The BMW Kathorus Club also recognised members who have demonstrated continued dedication to the organisation over the years.

Celebrating young women

The celebration also featured the Mbalahle dance group from Vosloorus, a group of girls who promote and take pride in virginity among young women.

The group celebrated its graduation during the event.

The 100th Charity Run marked another milestone in the club’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities and maintain long-term relationships with the people and organisations it assists.
