WATCH: Schools to bring families together at a family picnic in Eden Park

The event will bring learners, parents and community members together for a day of family entertainment and activities.

Families and learners from seven local schools are set to come together for a year-end family picnic at Eden Park Stadium on December 5.

The event is organised by Smart-Synergy Communications, an ICT company that has worked with schools in the area since 2015.

The picnic will bring together learners, parents, and members of the community for a day featuring entertainment, children’s activities, cars, helicopters, and live performances.

The seven participating schools are Chivirikani Primary School, Stoneridge Primary School, Opelweg Primary School, Palmridge Primary School, Realeboha Primary School, Eden Park Primary School, and Greenfields Primary School.

According to Smart-Synergy Communications, its school ambassadors have been involved in school appearances, parent meetings, and ‘Hype Up’ school activations with Vulela Maweekend, also known as ‘Hey You, Sibusiso’.

The ambassadors have also been promoting ticket sales at their respective schools.

A confirmed video from Vulela Maweekend will also form part of the build-up to the event, with the performer confirmed as the headline act for December 5.

Attractions and entertainment

Families attending the picnic can expect a range of activities throughout the day.

Raceview Motor Group has confirmed its participation and will bring a selection of vehicles for attendees to experience.

Henley Air will also bring helicopters, while Gladiator Inflatables will provide jumping castles for children.

Young Barber will be on hand to give children fresh haircuts ahead of the December holidays.

The entertainment line-up includes Sami-K, Vulela Maweekend, DJ Hugo, DJ Saki, and DJ Ohza.

Smart-Synergy Communications said it has been operating in the ICT sector for the past 10 years, providing technology-related services to schools and helping staff improve their use of technology.

The company also highlighted achievements by some of the participating schools through Ekurhuleni South District schools awards.

Chivirikani Primary School was recognised for the Best ICT Implementation Strategies for the 2022 academic year, followed by Greenfields Primary School in 2023 and Eden Park Primary School in 2024.

Realeboha Primary School was recognised for Best ICT Implementation Strategies for the 2025 academic year.
