Marais Viljoen High School council honours outgoing student leaders with gifts
The newly elected 2026/27 council presented a symbolic gift to the current leaders in recognition of their service, dedication and leadership.
A special tradition at Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School continued as the newly elected 2026/27 council presented a gift to the current council.
The school described the gesture as one ‘with great significance’, as the incoming leaders took the opportunity to thank their predecessors for their contribution over the past year.
According to the school, the gift was presented to recognise the current council’s “service, dedication, and leadership” during their term.

“You have played an important role, and we appreciate the difference you have made,” the school said in its message to the current leaders.
The tradition gives the newly elected council a chance to acknowledge the work of those who served before them while marking the transition to the next group of student leaders.
For Marais Viljoen, the small gift represents more than just a token of appreciation; it is a meaningful part of the school’s council tradition.
