Alberton intersections pose threat to community

An Alberton resident is concerned about the hazardous conditions at two intersections in Alberton: Vermooten Street and Swartkoppies Road and Hennie Alberts Street and Swartkoppies Road.

The traffic light poles knocked down months ago at the intersections of Vermooten Street and Swartkoppies Road and Hennie Alberts Street and Swartkoppies Road have not been replaced.

This is an accident waiting to happen, and I was nearly a witness to another collision at Hennie Alberts and Swart Koppies this morning.

Furthermore, the crash barriers at these intersections have not been replaced for over a year. As ratepayers, we are expected to pay more each year, yet we do not see any improvements in and around Alberton.

I urge the municipality to take immediate action to address these hazardous conditions. If not, I fear the municipality will soon have blood on their hands.
