Why are streetlights on during the day?

Please explain how substantial amounts of wasted electricity can be justified?

The Alberton Record received a comment on the last published article on July 15 regarding electricity issues in Alberton North area.

As an Alberton resident, I would like to pose a question to the City of Ekurhuleni’s mayor and councillors as follows.

Eskom and our President pleaded the past weeks on TV for all citizens to use electricity sparingly as the entire country is once again under load-shedding.

Taking this situation seriously, why is that most of our Alberton streetlights are switched on an entire day for so many years?

Please explain how substantial amounts of wasted electricity can be justified?
