Resident raises concerns on power failures
Elandshaven resident launches a letter of concern about the unknown power outages.
Please can you advise to whom the community should complain?
Presently the Elandshaven area is in distress. We suffer from multiple power failures and cable theft.
What makes matters worse is every time there is load-shedding we sit without power for more than five hours at a time. Service delivery is a major issue and no one seems to care.
I have a blind 21-month-old daughter with me and it is becoming an issue to make her the necessities she needs.
On August 4 the power went off at 16:00 and only came back on after 19:00. On August 5 it went off at 06:00 and has still not returned. Over the last few months, we had serious issues with service delivery.
I thought the DA was all about change. I have still seen no change. The roads are deteriorating, and service delivery is almost non-existent. Crime is rampant, more and more road laws are being broken and there is never a single metro officer when needed.
When is the last time you drove down Cradock Street in front of Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School between 13:45 and 14:30? Have you noticed all the cars that illegally park on the road and block traffic, not to mention the blockage on the side street due to illegal parking? Some cars make illegal U-turns on the zebra crossing.
I can carry on listing the issues and create a full page of problems.
So I am going to ask instead, as the mayor what are you doing to address these problems or will it only be addressed when the resident has had enough and decide to follow Thembisa’s route?
Andrew
•The Alberton Record is waiting for an official comment from both the mayor’s office and EMPD which will be published as soon as received.
