Gracie Barra Alberton Academy recently competed at the Abu Dhabi National Pro Jiu-Jitsu Tournament and ranked fifth in South Africa.
The team consisted of 10 students. Results were as follows:
Adults: Michaela van Staden (fourth), Timaya Thomson (silver), Luke Mynhardt (bronze), and Joshua Breed (ninth).
Children: Connor van der Mescht (silver), Nicolas Sears (silver), Willow Mitchell (gold), Wayden Wolmarans (gold), Braeden Van Der Mescht (gold) and Coenie Lamprecht (gold).

“We are honoured to represent our sport and Alberton as a community at this tournament. We as an academy are very proud of the students who competed and held our name high,” said coach Shane Carr from the Valhalla MMA & Fitness SA.
“We welcome all new members from young to old to join us. We also have a ladies only class,” he said.
