DA receives 29.76% of Ekurhuleni vote as Alberton councillor reports Ward 106 growth

The DA received 29.76% of the combined ward and PR votes counted in Ekurhuleni, while Ward 106 councillor Tim Denny says support for the party increased in his ward.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) received the largest share of the combined ward and proportional representation (PR) votes counted in the City of Ekurhuleni, securing 29.76% of the valid votes recorded so far in the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The results, contained in the City of Ekurhuleni’s election summary released by the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) on November 6, show that 63% of votes had been counted at the time of the update.

The DA received 305,202 votes, followed by the African National Congress (ANC) with 228,419 votes (22.28%) and ActionSA with 188,303 votes (18.36%).

Ward 106 councillor Tim Denny said the DA retained all four wards in the Alberton area.

“All 4 wards resounding DA wards again. But my ward even grew in DA,” he said.

Denny also reported increased support for the DA in Ward 106. However, the municipality-wide election summary does not provide individual ward figures to independently verify the reported increase.
