Alberton High’s bowler promotes lawn bowling

Alberton High School’s Miles Gxumisa was among other young competitors who recently enjoyed a good game of bowls and a wonderful display of sportsmanship.

Miles Gxumisa, a Grade 10 learner at Alberton High School, recently had the privilege to represent the Ekurhuleni U18 team in the Bowls South African National Championships.

He had the opportunity to bowl against other young competitors across the country in the championships which took place in Orangia Bowls Club, Bloemfontein.

“Although we didn’t bring back gold this year, we sure are working hard to bring back the silverware next year. Lawn bowling is not a popular sport among the youth, but it’s growing as a sport in the country. I urge all juniors to play this strategic sport,” Gxumisa said.

He was also awarded provincial colours by his school.
