WATCH: Alberton Rugby Club appoints new director

The newly appointed Alberton Rugby club director is well-known in Gauteng rugby circles due to his time as a former provincial player.

The Alberton Rugby Club announced the appointment of Shane Kirkwood as their new director of rugby.

In a press statement, the club said: “Welcome to the home of the Elande, Shane.

“We are excited to experience the value you can add to our structures coming from a professional environment.”

Kirkwood is a former provincial rugby player and is known by many Alberton rugby players and coaches.

He brings years of experience and expertise, traits the club hopes will help it maintain its strength.

Commenting on Kirkwood’s appointment, Alberton Rugby Club president, Manie Reyneke, said: “We are happy to have Kirkwood on board as director. He will help us take Elande to the next level and make Alberton the force it used to be on the field.”

Reyneke said the club is also appointing new coaches.

Kirkwood has been appointed on a three-year contract.
