Laerskool President Steyn gymnasts excel at SAAerialnastix Championships
Kasandra Kiaka, Leja Mennigke, Karli Swart, Tamara Hunt, Viaanka van Rensburg and Patrice Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen made their school proud at the SA Championships.
Six learners from Laerskool President Steyn showcased their gymnastics skills at the SAAerialnastix Championships, putting their club on the map.
The event at John Barrable Hall in Benoni on October 19 drew 460 gymnasts from Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, and the Alberton gymnasts and Thea Mostert Tumblewrx team held their own, earning coveted SAAerialnastix Federation colours.
Before this achievement, the gymnasts had proved their mettle at the Ekurhuleni games, competing for Gauteng.
They achieved these results:
Kasandra Kiaka: First place in tumbling, second place in bench and fifth place in trampoline.
Leja Mennigke: Gold medal in level one tumbling.
Karli Swart: Gold in ballet solo, high silver in modern dance, and gold in ballet and hip-hop.
Tamara Hunt: Two gold medals in hip-hop and modern dance.
Viaanka van Rensburg: Six golds and one silver medal for ballet, hip-hop and modern dance.
Patrice Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen: 10 golds and one high silver medal in ballet, hip-hop, modern dance, tap groups, and solo dances (participating in 12 dances).
The school congratulated these gymnasts on their achievements, as well as their demonstration of skill, hard work, and determination.
