Club shines at Ekurhuleni Wrestling Association Awards

The practice times are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:30 to 20:00 at the Hennie Jonker Hall on the corner of Helston Drive and 2nd Avenue.

The Ekurhuleni Wrestling Association held its annual club awards evening at the Hennie Jonker Hall in Alberton on November 9 to celebrate its members’ outstanding achievements.

The evening belonged to the Alberton Wrestling Club, which swept two awards: Ekurhuleni wrestling club of the year 2024 and wrestling club with the most points.

The club of the year award recognises the club with the best support and co-operation from other clubs and the province in the Ekurhuleni municipality.

Meanwhile, the wrestling club with the most points award reflects the cumulative points earned by the Alberton Wrestling Club throughout the year, showcasing their consistent excellence.

Renier Janse van Rensburg, the president of Alberton Wrestling Club, expressed gratitude and pride, “This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our parents and the hard work of our champions. We are blessed with the best team and support system.”

The double, a remarkable accomplishment, highlights the Alberton Wrestling Club’s commitment to excellence and teamwork.

Looking to 2025, Janse van Rensburg enthused, “We can’t wait to see what the future holds. We are eager to continue striving for greatness and making our mark in the wrestling community.”

The Ekurhuleni Wrestling Association’s annual awards ceremony is a fitting tribute to local wrestlers’ passion, perseverance and talent.
