Boxing for gold: Alberton stars compete in SA Championships

Two rising stars from Alberton Boxing Club had an honour of representing Gauteng province in the SA National Boxing Championships.

Manelisa Mbatha and Emmanuel Ntamo of Alberton Boxing Club have earned national honours after being selected to represent South Africa at the SA National Boxing Championships.

The prestigious tournament took place from July 1 to 6 at Transnet in Koedoespoort, Pretoria.

According to Gert de Klerk of Alberton Boxing Club, the competition featured top contenders from all nine provinces.

Manelisa Mbatha competed in the 57–60 kg weight division, while Emmanuel Ntamo had been selected for the 60–63 kg division.

Both boxers proudly represented Gauteng province.

In addition to the two boxers, Alberton was also represented on the officiating panel.

Gert de Klerk and Estelle Greeff performed judge and referee duties during the championship, bringing their expertise and experience to one of the biggest stages in amateur boxing.

“Congratulations to all on the selection for this prestigious event,” said Greeff.
