Alberton North fighters bring home 34 medals from Brakpan showdown

Stellar performance by ACKB Fight Club at Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre secures 34 medals for Alberton fighters

The Alberton Chinese Kickboxing Fight Club (ACKB Fight Club) delivered an outstanding performance at The Battle of the East and Tiny Titans tournaments, both hosted at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre and affiliated with the South Africa Kickboxing Association.

In a field filled with talent and competitive spirit, the club’s athletes stood out for their skill, determination and discipline.

A medal haul to remember

This year, ACKB Fight Club entered 11 dedicated athletes into the dual competitions.

Their hard work paid off with an impressive total of 18 gold, 13 silver and three bronze medals, a testament to months of training, focus and teamwork.

Individual results:

• Keano Kinnear – two gold, one silver

• Tanika van Greunen – two silver

• Jonathan de Beer – three silver

• Lwando Gulubela – three gold, one silver

• Kelvin Barnard – one gold, two silver

• Liane van der Merwe – one gold, two silver

• Evan du Plessis – one gold, two bronze

• Leandri Jonker – two gold, one bronze

• Mso Gulubela – five gold, one silver

• Aneli Horne – two gold, one silver

• Savanna-Lee Disney – one gold

Each medal represents more than victory on the tatami; it celebrates discipline, resilience and the supportive community behind every athlete.

Coaching, support and community spirit

This success would not have been possible without the dedication of coaches Katleho Mokoena, Anthony van Greunen and Matthew Getting, whose guidance is evident in every fighter’s performance.

Leading the club is sensei Yvette Schlotfeldt, a decorated martial artist with three World Championship titles, six African Continental titles, Protea colours and a second-degree black belt.
