Alberton’s Thysse wins Survivor Box and Dine Tournament
In one of the best fights seen at Emperors Palace this past year, Alberton’s Brandon Thysse overcame being sent to the canvas twice to beat Germiston’s Shervantaigh Koopman.

The two faced each other in one of the Survivor junior middleweight tournament semi-finals.
This followed a unanimous points decision on the undercard of the Survivor Box and Dine Tournament at Emperors Palace.

The judges scored the fight 94-93, 95-93 and 95-92 in the Alberton boxer’s favour, while Knapp won his fight with a TKO.

Thysse is now set to meet Edenvale’s Roarke Knapp in the final after the latter beat Botswana’s Kagiso Bagwasi in the other semi-final of this four-man series.

Thysse and Knapp will face off in a 2026 final for the lion’s share of a sizeable R1.2m purse.
