URGENT: Eden Park young athletes need R6k in 2 days to reach world championships

Two talented blackball players from Gauteng need R6 000 to cover travel costs for the upcoming world championships in Bellville.

Two young Eden Park blackball players, Theoshin Rossouw (13) and Deolin Williams (15), are appealing for R6 000 in public support to cover transport costs for the IBF World Blackball Championships.

The tournament takes place at the Velodrome in Bellville, with the pair scheduled to travel on October 23.

Theoshin began playing blackball at eight years old. He joined the South African Blackball Federation in 2023 and has maintained a top ranking in Gauteng, finishing first in the province at the national championships in June.

His mother, Sherezaad Theobald, said essential attire, accommodation and registration are sorted, but transport funds remain outstanding.

“We have done most of the things, such as buying the needed sport attire and getting accommodation. Now we are trying to raise money for the transport. We are running out of time, and we don’t know what to do,” said Theobald.

Deolin started playing at seven years old and has finished first in Gauteng in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The families have made an urgent appeal to local businesses and community members to assist before the scheduled departure.
