ACKB Fight Club is celebrating two years of growth, development and sporting success.
The club recently made Alberton proud at this year’s WAKO/SAKA South African National Championships, held in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape. Seven ACKB kickboxers, including instructor sensei Yvette Schlotfeldt, represented the Gauteng provincial team and delivered outstanding results.
The team returned home with an impressive 12 medals, including three gold, four silver and five bronze.
In another remarkable achievement, all seven athletes were selected to either the 2026 South African National Team or the South African Presidential Team.
Schlotfeldt won one South African title and two bronze medals, earning selection to the South African National Team.
Kathleho Mokoena claimed one gold, one silver and one bronze medal and also qualified for the national team.
Evan du Plessis won a silver medal, a fourth-place finish and a fifth-place finish, earning selection to the South African Presidential Team.
Lwando Gulubela and Mso Gulubela each won bronze medals and were selected for the Presidential Team.
Aneli Horne earned three silver medals and also qualified for the Presidential Team, while Dehan Calitz was crowned South African Champion in K1.
The club has another major achievement to celebrate as Evan du Plessis has been selected to represent South Africa at the 2026 WAKO Kickboxing World Championships in Italy in September.
The club is raising funds to help cover the costs of his trip and is calling on the community and local businesses to support his journey.

ACKB Fight Club is affiliated with the Ekurhuleni Kickboxing Association, Gauteng Kickboxing Association and the South African Kickboxing Association, reflecting its commitment to recognised standards and excellence in the sport.
The club continues to invest in developing new talent by hosting interclub development tournaments that give beginner fighters valuable competition experience.
The programme also creates opportunities for athletes from communities including Mamelodi, Eersterus and surrounding townships.
At its latest development tournament, held at Hitman’s DoJo, ACKB Fight Club entered 10 fighters aged between six and 38 years.
The team produced another outstanding performance, winning 22 gold medals and eight silver medals.
“You do not need any experience or a high level of fitness to be part of ACKB Fight Club. I have students who train for many different reasons, including self-defence, fitness, weight loss and competition. Our goal is to help every student become the best version of themselves, whether they are training for fun, fitness or international competition”, said Schlotfeldt.
Residents interested in joining the club are invited to attend a complimentary trial class.
