WATCH: Alberton Boxing Club hosts breast cancer awareness tournament
The tournament brought the boxing community together to raise awareness, support survivors and honour those affected by breast cancer.
The Alberton Boxing Club stepped into the ring for a cause that reached far beyond boxing gloves and competition when it hosted a breast cancer awareness tournament on August 29.
Held in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event focused on raising awareness about early detection, supporting those fighting the disease, remembering those lost, and celebrating survivors.
Attendees were encouraged to wear pink as a show of support. Pieter Strydom from the Alberton Boxing Club said the tournament was held for people who had battled breast cancer and survived.
“We are doing a tournament for breast cancer, for all the people who had breast cancer and survived,” Strydom said.
He also extended his best wishes to everyone who attended.
“We wish all the people who are here all the best and we thank them very much,” he said.
