Local actors in TV series
There was excitement and envy among the residents of Eden Mews Flats in January when they witnessed local young boys and girls acting in a television series when the shooting took place at one of the flat blocks.
EDEN PARK – Mercia Scheepers, one of the actors, used her flat for scenes during the filming. In the TV series, which will be screened on SABC 1 in April or May, is directed and produced by Paulus Ngwenya, who has been involved in many different movies.
There were 12 Eden Park actors used in the series Khuthu-Khatha, which is about drugs, violence, the oppression of women and trafficing. The filming started in January with scenes shot at different locations. Ngwenya, who has been a director for more than 10 years, had praise and admiration for the Eden Park actors.
“This is an upliftment for our community. I would like to thank Ngwenya for granting our youth the opportunity to be actors and showcase their talent to the whole of South Africa,” said Mercia.
Ngwenya said a complete movie will be filmed in Eden Park using local actors. The movie Coloured Flava will be filmed in Eden Park towards the end of the year. Another movie, Black Woman’s Hair will have some scenes filmed in Eden Park with local actors. This will happen during May this year.
