WATCH: Chess tournament in Turffontein

About 30 pairs participated on the chess tournament.

Turffontein Primary School hosted a successful chess tournament on September 17, where about 30 pairs participated.

Parents supported their children on the day. The event was also attended by the school’s principal, Pexie Jafta, and coaches Sandile Ngema, Eunice Makhanya and Jessie Fillie.

Njabulo Sibanyoni won the tournament, followed by Clinton Peter and Hayleigh Ward.

Chess is one of the oldest and most popular board games. It is played by two opponents on a checkered board, with specially designed pieces of contrasting colours, commonly white and black. The objective of the game is to capture the opponent’s King.
