Kgololo playgrounds in Alex ‘freed’ from dilapidation

Kgololo Academy principal Nelly Hlongwa receives the revamped playgrounds to the delight of her learners.

The playgrounds of Alexandra’s only private school, Kgololo Academy, founded by ‘uMakoti’ of the township from the United States of America, Waahida Tolbert-Mbatha, were recently freed from the clutches of dilapidation.

Academy principal Nelly Hlongwa was handed the revamped playground, complete with playing equipment and re-decoration for the primary learners from Grade R to Grade 6, as the Grade 7 class falls under the high school, and Kgololo, which means ‘freedom’ in Setswana, is the first of 50 schools and nursery schools ear-marked for the facelift in the iconic township.
The revamps will be conducted by the Aeroton Bakery of Sasko, whose distribution manager, Luyolo Paliso, said the new lease on life for the playgrounds will be activated as of April and hope to complete all 50 of them by November this year.
Paliso said the facelifts will include recreational spaces in the township that can renewed as part of the attempts to renew old infrastructure in the township that early childhood development centres can share along with the community.
