“We spoke with the officials from housing and those dealing with transfers of title deeds. What is important is that they committed themselves to starting the process of the transfer of land from the Gauteng Department to the provincial government.

“I’ve sent all the required documents for the transfer of land to the people of housing,” Raphadu said.

One of the residents Bahle Mfokazi said, “I have been here for more than 25 years but still I do not have a title deed. We have been submitting documents since 2010,” she said, demanding an end to the back-and-forth and ‘give us what belongs to us as we are ageing now and wonder what will happen to our children if should we die’.

“Councillor, can you push yourself even more and do the follow-up on the documents that we handed to the authorities so that when we hold the next meeting, we receive our title deeds as the wait has been long enough. We have been crying over the same thing for years now and I think it is time to put a stop to all this,” Langa said.
