JOBURG - Newspaper Advertising Bureau do their 67 minutes of Mandela Day in Alexandra and Orange Grove.

Staff of the Newspaper Advertising Bureau took time from their posh offices to give 67 minutes of their time to the Lebogang Mpho Early Learning Centre in Alexandra.

They brought the children clothing and non-perishable food items. “We also arranged for a visit from Miles of Smiles, who are a family company made up of artists and did face painting for up to 60 children in Alexandra and 25 children in Orange Grove, and some of the bureau staff stepped in to help face paint and handed out treats,” said Brigette van Selm, brand and events manager at the bureau.

The centre, also known as Hayani, looks after destitute women and HIV/Aids orphans, street children, abandoned children and those living in dire poverty.

Hayani has assisted more than 100 families, unemployed women and 85 children. Last year the centre adopted 75 disadvantaged children from an early learning centre in Alexandra.

Hayani has embarked on a fundraising campaign in a bid to purchase an additional property. Those interested in supporting the fund can contact the centre.
