Polite Nyoni and Rubina Burnham win Mr and Miss Alexandra 2026
Beyond the crowns and cash prizes, the newly named royal court steps into community leadership roles across the township.
Mr and Miss Alexandra crowned its 2026 ambassadors at the pageant’s grand finale at East Bank Hall on October 31.
Founder and CEO Nomsa Motha said the organisation set out to find contestants who are passionate about serving their communities and making a positive difference in Alexandra. “We believe that being a king or queen goes beyond wearing a crown; it is about leadership, commitment and giving back,” Motha said.
As the evening settled in, the organisation crowned exactly who it was looking for, an elegantly dressed Polite Nyoni and Rubina Burnham, who received the top honours as this year’s Mr and Miss Alexandra king and queen.

Alongside them, Themba Mthethwa and Mighty Maluleke were crowned first prince and princess, while Mzwakhe Maseko and Naledi Seafi took the titles of second prince and princess.
Motha said what set this year’s winners apart was not only their dedication to community service, but also the stage points they collected throughout the competition, which showed in their performance.

The pageant continues its record of empowering young people in Alexandra, offering them opportunities to grow, build their leadership skills and confidence, and cement their involvement in the community through service.
Motha said the rewards go beyond personal development, with the king and queen also receiving tangible prizes, including a Boston bursary for the king and R1 000 in cash for both the king and queen.

At the heart of it all is a mission to ensure the pageant positively shapes the futures of those who take part. “We hope Mr and Miss Alexandra inspires young people to believe in themselves, recognise their potential and understand the importance of serving their communities,” Motha said.
Motha also told the winners that the grand finale does not mark the end of their journey, but the beginning of their responsibility as ambassadors of the Alexandra community.
