Blankets to warm the elderly

ALEXANDRA - ABB donates blankets to Ihlokomeleng Old Age Home and Banakekeleni Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre.

ABB, a power and automation technology company donated some blankets to Itlhokomeleng Old Age Home and Banakekeleni Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre.

Itlhokomeleng is a multiracial institution for the elderly. It has a semi-frail care and frail care sections, a function hall, a library run by the City of Johannesburg, a social worker and nursing staff.

Nosisi Tshatshu of Itlhokomeleng said they were grateful for the blankets as they strove to make the institution a home for the elderly.

Banakekeleni’s main focus is the care of TB and HIV patients. Its main challenge is the sourcing of funds. The centre’s administrator Tebogo Mahoa thanked the company for the donation.

The company’s digital communications manager, Mike Wächter said, “We are involved in a lot of CSI programmes and donate to various organisations that are in need.”

The company works in conjunction with the Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce to uplift the community.
