Facebook crash causes buzz on social media

The social media site, Facebook, went down worldwide for a few minutes on Thursday morning causing people to flock to twitter to vent.

The hashtag #facebookdown became a trending topic across the world on twitter.

@LifeisSavage tweeted: “Breaking news: Mass panic as Facebook crashes. Addicted users have no idea how to real life.”

While @joburgreporter mused: “Maybe I should call my parents. Panic must be setting in now they can’t post embarrassing pics of me to their fb pages #facebookdown

“I survived the Facebook Collapseof 2014. History will remember this day. Probably,” said @GarretIvo.

Blackberry Messenger was also flooded with messages from contacts who couldn’t log on. Most messages simply read “Facebook is not working!” with a crying emoticon.
