Man punches drinking mate for finishing beers

ALEXANDRA - A 3rd Avenue man punched his drinking mate and chased him all the way to his house in 18th Avenue after accusing him of finishing the beers.

A 3rd Avenue man punched his drinking mate and chased him all the way to his house in 18th Avenue after accusing him of finishing the beers.

The complainant said he had gone to his friend’s house in 3rd Avenue and found him with a couple of other men drinking beer. He joined the drinking party as they watched World Cup soccer on TV.

One of the drinking mates, known to him only as Lucas, complained of a shortage of beers and accused the complainant of finishing them. After an exchange of words, Lucas became angry and called the complainant names.

The argument heated up and Lucas demanded that the complainant pay for the beers he had consumed. He then started hitting the complainant.

The victim managed to run away to his home. Lucas followed him all the way from 3rd Avenue to 18th Avenue and apparently warned him never to set foot in 3rd Avenue again as he would kill him.

Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said they were still looking for the suspect.
