Youth on robbery charge to apply for bail

ALEXANDRA – Youth faced with Bramley robbery charge to apply for bail.

An Alex youth who was remanded in custody for an alleged armed robbery in Bramley will reappear in Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for a bail application.

The 20-year-old accused was arrested on 18 July after police officers, who were patrolling nearby, were alerted to a robbery in progress and rushed to the scene.

The police found a male victim fighting with the accused. The victim alleged that the accused had an accomplice who ran away after robbing him of a cellphone and R20 in cash at gunpoint.

Police searched the accused but found nothing on him.

The accused, who admitted being at the crime scene, denied involvement in the robbery which he claimed was committed by his uncle who had run away. He gave his uncle’s name to the police.
