Woman loses money after withdrawing

Alex police officers are investigating the theft of a bank card from a woman and a subsequent illegal withdrawal of R2 000 from her bank account after she made a withdrawal from an ATM at Pan Africa Mall.

Spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Captain Allie Kodisang said the incident happened at about 5pm on 25 November when the victim walked away from the ATM after withdrawing R2 000 cash.

Another woman allegedly pushed the victim and when she fell, her money and bank card which were in her handbag fell out.

The woman who had pushed the victim then picked up the bank card and gave it to her. The bank card handed over by the suspect allegedly looked like the woman’s card.

After continuing on her way, the victim received an SMS confirming a withdrawal of an additional

R2 000 from her account.

Police are investigating the matter.
