Theft from neighbour

ALEXANDRA – Burglar and thief at the mercy of victim.

A man who admitted to a charge of housebreaking and theft from a neighbour may escape jail if the victim agrees to mediation terms at the next court hearing on 6 February in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.

Thabang Khotsa (23) who was remanded in custody wants to apologise to the victim for the burglary and theft of a television set, X-box and weights all valued at R15 000 from her place at a housing complex in Bel Air, North Riding on 1 December last year.

The victim left her place and on her return mid-morning, noticed the items missing from her garage with the door also damaged. She reported to security at the gate who informed her the accused had been arrested when he returned from selling her items at a Cash Crusaders shop in Midrand. She went to the shop but recovered only the television.
