Bust for drugs and bribe

ALEXANDRA – Rwandan on drug and bribery charge on bail.

The case of a man who is out on R2 000 bail on a charge of drug possession and attempting to bribe police officers, was postponed in the Alex Magistrates’ Court pending further investigations.

He was arrested in the evening of 7 November near Boulders Shopping Centre in Midrand while driving a vehicle with its lights off. The officers stopped and searched him and the vehicle, and allegedly found white powder in a ziplock bag concealed under the gear lever.

When asked about the powder, he allegedly tried to bribe the officers with R2 000 and reportedly claimed to have been rushing to Joburg to pick up more of the same stuff.

He was arrested and the powder sent for forensic testing. It was found to be a drug commonly known as cat.
