Female fraudster

ALEXANDRA – Bank agrees to fraudster's repayment plan.

A female fraudster was sentenced by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to an eight-year sentence which was wholly suspended for five years.

After initially denying the charge, unemployed Mbali Madondo (27) admitted before Magistrate Renier Boshoff to defrauding Capitec Bank, Midrand of

R100 000. She applied and was granted the money as a loan in July last year using a fictitious payslip from Carstenhof Hospital and account statements from Nedbank. An investigation was conducted when she didn’t repay the instalments leading to her arrest in October. She committed to an agreement to repay the bank and a relative assisted her with a deposit of R10 000. The balance is to be paid in monthly instalments of R7 000.
