IN TWEETS: Alexandra residents picket outside Marlboro container units

MARLBORO – Alexandra residents are against the City's decision to place them in residential containers.

Some Alexandra residents gathered in Marlboro on 21 April to protest against containers being provided as alternative housing.

The City of Johanesburg has placed the containers next to Marlboro Testing Grounds with the aim to de-densify congested informal settlements in Alexandra and in other parts of the city.

However, the residents said they wanted proper housing and not containers. They told Alex News that the gathering was also a build-up to the planned #AlexShutDown to be held on 28 April.
