Koketso Sedume: a rising star with a dream

Koketso Sedume wants to be the next TV star in the country.

Alexandra Koketso Sedume (22) has set his sights on becoming the next biggest star on South African screens.

Sedume matriculated in 2022 from Realogile High School and never did dramatic arts as a subject. His passion for acting started in 2022 when he was inspired by TV stars such as Sindi Dlathu and Somizi. He then joined video production classes in 2023.

“I’ve wanted to get into the acting industry since 2022 when I was in grade 12 but the problem was, I did not know how. I look up to stars such as Sindi Dlathu – that woman inspires me a lot and I want to make it to those big TV shows and make myself proud.”

Sedume said he could play any character except for gangsterism because he is not good at it, and he gets support mostly from his mother.

“My mother encouraged me to join classes and she told me that If I wanted to make it this far in this industry, I have to be prepared to pay for it because media does not come for free there is a price to pay. I won’t just become a star and she promised to be with me throughout the journey.”

He has been an extra on shows such as Daily Thetha, Big Brother Mzansi, Saturday Show-Down and The Masingas, but he still dreams of being a permanent cast member on a hit show.

“I am very grateful that I got to experience all these shows because some do not even get that chance. I see myself being more than an extra. I want to be a professional actor, acting for those big TV shows such as Muvhango, My Brothers Keeper and many more,” Koketso said.
